the domain is chosen, now let's find the problem.

We decided to focus on 2 main issues: The public’s lack of accessibility to information and the lack of awareness to the consequences of electricity over consumption at home.

The team got together and wrote interview questions to use in the end-user interviews we were conducting, to understand which problem is more urgent and more commonly known.

We interviewed a diverse range of end-users of which some were active in helping the environment and some were more passive towards it.

We concluded that there indeed exists a need to find a solution for the public’s lack of accessibility to information regarding the environment as well as the lack of awareness of the consequences.

To understand and learn more about the problem, we attempted to get in contact with activists in the field. To achieve this we posted our number in the IDC’s School of Sustainability’s alumni group.

We were delighted to find that people were eager to volunteer for the interviews and discuss with us how their thoughts on the matter.

We carried out follow-up interviews with the experts in the field, that we interviewed in the first week, to broaden our understanding of the issue and to understand if we have found a relevant issue to tackle.

In addition to the follow-up interviews with the experts from week 1, we interviewed an additional 2 experts that helped us gain insight from a different perspective and help focus us on the main issues.
